Mobile Phones always seem to be a prime target for crooks. However there is a serial number on the phone that will make them useless. You must retrieve this number yourself and store it and in the unlucky event that your phone is lost or stolen give this number to your phone provider and they can turn the phone off, making it useless to the offenders.
To get this number press ‘STAR HASH 0 6 HASH’ and it will appear.

As a wildlife officer I receive information about wildlife offences that have taken place in other police forces. I believe the following will show you how fast DNA is becoming a useful tool in our arsenal against all crime. A rural police officer received a call from a local farmer, he had found a badger set dug up on his land and there was a dead badger near-by. The police attended and found an empty drink tin at the scene. The tin was sent to a forensic department and a DNA match from it that indicated a male who had been dealt with for shoplifting a year earlier. The policeman went and found him, and the fellow ended up in court and was convicted of the offence. A good result.

I do publish a larger newsletter sent via e-mail if you would like to receive this please e-mail me with your name address and phone numbers and I will put you on the distribution list.

This monthly newsletter is intended to raise awareness of crime in our area and what steps can be taken to reduce it. If we know what is going on, are alert to it, share information and work together, we will all stand a better chance of preventing crime or tracing those responsible for it. Please pass my e-mail address to your friends and neighbours and I will include them in the distribution list.
Not all crimes that have occurred appear on this newsletter as it is always up to the injured party if they wish them to be published.
