Barkway Community Group

Barkway Community Group is a small number of people who have come together to provide opportunities for a wider social life and learning new things.

Its beginning was in 2000. Conversations with local people led us to believe that there was a need for more informal ways of meeting each other

From the informal beginnings we have established regular events such as lunch at local pubs, seasonal walks and an opportunity to hear local residents talk about their lives and work

Opportunities have arisen for learning new things; CDA for Herts enabled a computer course for beginners, WEA provided a speaker on Family History and local artists encouraged experimentation in painting and craftwork.

Occasional exhibitions have appealed to a wider audience-especially the Photographs of old Barkway week-end, when over 120 people visited the Village Hall.

We advertise events in The Diary, on our own wesite, on this web-site and on posters around the village.

Anyone living locally can join us including residents of nearby villages
